So yeah, we've been gone for a while, incommunicado, total radio silence, etc. That's what happens when you join the French Foreign Legion — they don't really have wifi out there in the desert. But we have stumbled out of the sand stronger, slimmer, sunburned within an inch of our lives and clutching a small silver disc. That's right, NEW ALBUM. This one has been dubbed Remember the Narwhal, and it is, in some ways, a field recording of a new, better YFB, one that you could, if you were inclined to unoriginal and somewhat silly references, refer to as YFB Starship.
For the first time ever, we've teamed up with other musicians.
Yes, Olaf and Bjørn have been joined by Gundar, formerly of local Seattle rockers Cookie, on drums, and Andor, a founding member of '80s grindcore legends The Righteous Pigs, on bass. And lo, the cacophony that has resulted is heavenly, though the (decidedly adult) themes are, some have said, rather dark. What can we say? Sometimes you just need to set a car on fire and lock yourself in the study, far away from maniacs with rusted hatchets. Stay tuned for a release date (we're thinking early summer), and in the meantime, you can check out the music page for a track list.
BUT WAIT! Until you can get your grubby little mitts on the new record, we invite you to attend the glorious, glorious event below, at which Olaf will be performing a new wave classic to honor those wonderful Girls. Join us, won't you please?
